Welcome to the Asia Research Centre

ASEAN Learning Network

From learning organization to learning network - our contribution to the university's efforts to globalise and to become recognised "as one of Europe's leading universities, both with respect to scholarship as well as practical application."

The Asia Network was conceived as a network of associated research and training centres across Asia to strengthen our teaching and reserach capabilities in relation to Asia management studies at the University of St.Gallen and to establish a solid foothold for the University in the Asia-Pacific region. Our presence in and exposure to Asia through our Asia Network not only fosters our understading of the region but opens opportunites for our students to strengthen their theoretical and practical knowledge about management in Asia. Our students learn how to master the challenges of doing business in the Asian context and are given the opportunity to apply this knowledge in practise. Through their exposure to the peoples and environments in Asia during study trips, on-site seminars with experts, company visits and practise oriented research, our students gain valuable insights for their future careers.

Over the years the ARC has developed into a network of associated centres and university charis in different countries throughout the region. This alliance is dedicated to the development of Asia specific and practise-oriented management knowledge, which is shared with the business community (particularly our sponsors and partners) through our training programmes, seminars, consulting activites and publications.

The ARC stands at the core of the ASEAN Learning Network. The ASEAN Learning Network has currently 5 ASEAN schools as members: The Insitute of Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in Indonesia, the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, the Prince of Songkla University in Thailand, the San Beda college in the Philippines and the University of Malaysia Kelantan in Malaysia. We have also firm relationships with other Asian schools like the Singapore Management University (SMU) in Singapore, the Zhejiang University Beijing in China and the Indian Insitute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) in India.
